Later, the stars were high and bright as Justin and Irish were inside another baby store stocking up on items. The
first four stores, Irish tried to pay for the items she picked out. But Justin ignored her and paid for all of it.
This
store, she was determined to get something on her own. She grabbed some self-help books, a baby name book, and a quilt
with a big daisy on the top. After they got everything that was needed, they headed for Justin’s car and packed the
backseat with the bags.
Irish began to yawn as they both got in and buckled up. Justin drove silently back to her apartment.
Finally
there, he parked and began to unpack the bags. Irish went to unlock the door then started to help Justin with the baby items.
Justin quietly set up the items as he remembered he made sure to order a second set of everything and have it delivered to
his house.
Irish was very quiet most of the day out in public. But once she got in her own environment, she was the
Irish he remembered.
“Justin, I just wanted to thank you for everything. How can I repay you?” She gave
him a small smile.
Justin scoffed as he waved away his hand. “Thank me for what? You’re having our daughter.
You saved me. You help me get my life back and you let me love you. I should be thanking you until the end of time.”
“You
don’t owe me, but I feel I owe you. So, anything you want is okay with me.” She stated as she stood up and went
to the kitchen and grabbed a snack. Justin watched her walk back and sat down next to her.
Irish shared the snack with
him as he thought about it. “Well there is something. I want to know who you are.” Justin stared intensely at
her.
“That’s all?” She narrowed her eyes in surprise. Justin reached for her face and caressed her
left cheek with the back of his hand.
“You spent so much time on me, that I didn’t get to know about
you. I don’t know who you really are.”
“Justin, what is there to know?” She asked enjoying
his touch. He stopped his hand and made her focus on him.
“Well, for one thing I didn’t know you were from
here. I thought the cabin was your only home. I didn’t know your middle name. Hell, I didn’t know your last name!”
“True.”
Irish agreed. “Well, if you ask me about it, I will tell you what you want to know.”
Justin sat up
straight and pulled out a sheet of paper. “Let’s get started.”
Irish’s mouth fell open as she
looked at the paper he had before him. “When did you write down questions?”
Justin looked up from the sheet
and arched an eyebrow. “I was in shock seeing you in the music store. Then I had a lot running through my mind from
it all. But when I knew there was so much I don’t know, I wrote what I thought about down.”
He went back
to looking at the paper and cleared his throat.
“Okay. Here we go. Age?”
“31.” She quickly
answered.
Justin’s head shot up and showed her a look of amazement. “You’re seven years older than
me?”
“Yes.” She quickly answered again. “Is that a problem?”
“No, age doesn’t
matter to me. It’s just that you look younger. I was guessing at least twenty-two or twenty-four.” He stated before
continuing with the questioning.
“Did you get taller, since we last saw each other?”
Irish smiled
as she spoke. “Yes. I was 5’9” when we last saw each other. I grew to 5’10” since I’ve
been pregnant. My doctor said that I am taller, because my bones have to grow in order for my body to carry the weight I’m
gaining.”
“What’s your favorite color?”
“Blue-green.”
“What
your favorite flower?
“Daisy. The ones with the white petals.”
“What’s your favorite
TV cartoon?” Justin said as he tossed the paper aside.
“South Park.”
“Favorite character?”
“Cartman.”
“Why?”
“Because,
for an eight year old boy has a real dirty mouth. It reminds me of me. I look innocent, but if necessary I will curse you
out like a drunken sailor on shore leave with a food a stamp looking to buy a ho.” She said as she met his stare.
Justin
looked at her expression and laughed. “I do, too. So, what is your favorite thing to eat?”
“Before
I was pregnant, very spicy and hot salsa with jalapeno chips. Now that I am pregnant, turkey and cheese subs with the works.
I can a foot long in thirty minutes.” She laughed as he smiled and asked the next question.
Hours later,
they made it to her bedroom. They faced each on the king sized bed as the late night sky began to show slivers of the sun’s
rays. He continued to ask and she continued to answer. Both voices were down to a whisper when Justin’s questioning
went from the regular ,simple questions to the fun and light, then to the heavy and deep.
He took a deep breath before
speaking. “Why did you go back to your ex-boyfriend? John was his name, right?”
Irish turned onto her back
as she lay straight, looking at the ceiling. “Yes, his name was John. And I needed to get over you.”
“Why?”
He asked , knowing the answer.
“You were Justin Timberlake again. You were back to before. The fame, the fortune,
the media. I had to find something to go back to. Because, before that day I found you I was getting used to being alone.”
She
felt his stare fixed on her face as she continued. “Even though John and I were never right from the start, he was familiar.
And yes, before you ask, we had sex. We used a condom. So, when I found out I was pregnant I knew it wasn’t his.”
She exhaled, closing her eyes.
“I told him when I got the results of the sonogram. He was as mad as you. Then
he cooled off and understood after I explained what I could without telling your name or how we met.”
Justin
began to feel hot as he sat up and towered over her body, looking at her face. “You had sex with him, Irish? You’re
carrying my baby!”
“ I didn’t know I was! I was really careful! We were only with each other that
night I got back!” Irish yelled back as she sat up on her elbows.
Justin grew angrier as his face was inches
from hers. “You weren’t careful! Because, if you were you would have been miserable and alone! I was! Irish, I
didn’t climb into bed and fuck the first person I called. And trust me, I can get it easily. Ex or new!”
Irish
pushed him away and climbed out of bed. “You know Justin, I didn’t ask you to find me! I didn’t ask you
for anything! After saving your life, the most important thing was getting your memory back! Then getting you back home! Which
is were you need to be!” She grabbed his shoes and shoved them in his arms.
Justin walked ahead of her as she
talked out loud, her hormones spinning out of control. “Damn you and John! I can take care of this baby all by myself!
You think just because this is your child that I need you!” She screamed as she held the door open. “Just like
John! He assumed that we fucked because we both fell asleep drunk in bed, that I needed him too!”
Justin stopped,
as he was about to walk into the hallway. He blinked as Irish walked away, letting him do what ever. As she passed by him,
he reached out and grabbed her hand. Irish felt Justin pull her back towards his body. He turned her around to face him.
“Irish,
stop. Now rewind and push play.” He told her as his face frowned.
Irish arched an eyebrow at him. “Rewind
what?”
“What did you just say?” Justin sighed as sleep began to win him over.
“About
what?” Irish asked absent-mindedly.
Justin shook his head and closed the door. He then locked it as he threw
keys on the table and his shoes on the floor. He stepped back towards her as his eyes began to get heavy. “You mentioned
that John assumed you and he had sex, since you were both in bed passed out.”
Justin cracked his neck as he fought
the weariness that consumed his body. “Now, what did you mean?”
Irish took a deep breath as she turned
away. “We drank so much that night. We started to kiss and clothes came off. But as he kissed me on my shoulder, John
passed out.” She began to laugh. He laid me on the bed and kissed on my shoulders. After a couple of minutes, he got
quiet. I called his name, only to feel a weight on me. Him. His ass fell asleep. I just put him under the covers, before I
threw on a over-sized t-shirt and went to sleep next to him.”
“Why did you just tell me that bullshit story
then?” Justin asked still confused.
“For the same reason, I let you go. For the same reason I wasn’t
ever going to tell you. I don’t want you to feel you have to anything. I can handle this.” She sighed while fighting
a yawn that was trying to escape.
“I know you can, Irish. I don’t want to take anything away from you.
I never stopped loving you. I remember everything that we dealt with in the cabin. Especially when I sleep. What we shared,
comes to me in my dreams.”
Irish tiredly looked at the clock as Justin looked out the window. The morning sky
was lighting up the room. The digital clock flashed eight a.m. Irish closed her eyes, breathing deeply as Justin intertwined
his fingers with hers. He led her back to her bedroom.
They both back in bed, holding each other as sleep took
over. Justin buried his face in her hair like he did back in the cabin. Back before life got in the way.
The afternoon
sun shone through the bedroom’s blue curtains, warming the room. Irish’s body faced Justin’s as they slept.
She intertwined her legs with his, snuggling in his embrace. Justin slowly opened his eyes as he felt a push against his stomach.
He looked at Irish to see she was still sleeping. He felt the push again. Justin eased away some as he used his free hand
to lift up Irish’s pajama shirt. He watched in amazement as he saw her unusually hard looking stomach move.
A
goofy smile spread across his face. He touched the area where movement was most. A slow stretch of what felt like a foot moved
under his hand. Justin gasped as he looked back up to see Irish was still sleeping. He leaned closer and spoke to the area.
“Hey, little girl.” He spoke with a smile in his voice.
“My name is Justin and I’m your Daddy.”
Justin suddenly got kicked in the cheek. He laughed softly and continued to speak. “Okay, you may be a girl but you’re
going to play some kind of sport.” He began to rub the spot as he talked more. “I am a singer. It’s not
a bad job and the pay is good. I’m not a bad singer either. Want me to sing you something?” Justin waited until
he felt movement and cleared his throat. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
He put his lips to Irish’s
stomach to sing a soft, haunting song.
* Saying I love you, Is not the words, I want to hear from you, It's
not that I want you, Not to say but if you only knew, How easy, it would be to show me how you feel,
More
than words, is all you have to do, to make it real, Then you wouldn't have to say, that you love me, Cause
I'd already know,
What would you do, if my heart was torn in two,
More than words to show you feel, That
your love for me is real,
What would you say, if I took those words away,
Then you couldn't make things
new, Just by saying I love you,
It's more than words, It's more than what you say, It's the things you do, oh
yeah, It's more than words, It's more than what you say, It's the things you do, oh yeah,
Now that I've
tried to, talk to you and make you understand, All you have to do, is close your eyes, And just reach out your
hands, and touch me, Hold me close don't ever let me go,
More than words, is all I ever needed you to show, Then
you wouldn't have to say, that you love me, Cause I'd already know,
What would you do, if my heart was torn
in two,
More than words to show you feel, That your love for me is real, What would you say, if I took those
words away, Then you couldn't make things new,(no no) Just by saying I love you.....

The baby slowly moved before stopping. Justin waited
and waited, getting no response. He sat up more to get a better listen, but he didn’t feel or hear any movement from
the baby. Irish’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
“She’s sleep.”
Justin sat up fully
as Irish smiled at him. “Thank you for putting her to sleep. Usually, when I sleep she wants to stay up.”
Justin
brushed a piece of hair from her face. “You heard, huh?”
“Justin when you sung to her, I could feel
the vibration. And she felt it too. It put her asleep. That was one of my favorite songs.”
They both stared at
each other before Irish pulled him close and kissed him. Justin’s hand roamed all over her while her hands rubbed his
back. The ring of the telephone on the stand interrupted the kiss. Irish reached over to answer it.
“Hello? Yes,
I can make that. Okay.” She sat up as Justin got up and went to the bathroom to freshen up.
“Thank you.
I’ll see you soon.” She stated as she went to her closet, grabbing an outfit. Justin walked back in the room as
she changed her clothes. He leaned against the wall watching her.
“What’s up?”
“That
was my doctor’s office. He has to go out of town next week. So, he wants to see me today.” She stated to him as
she slipped on her shoes.
He sat on the bed as she sat down next to him, taking his hand. “Would you like to
go with me? After we can go through baby names during dinner.”
Justin cupped her chin and kissed her nose as
he agreed. “That sounds great.”
